UEFA has confirmed they will investigate both AEK Athens and Ajax after the crowd trouble that marred their clash on Tuesday.

Ajax defeated AEK 2-0 in Greece to seal their place in the Champions League knockout round, but crowd trouble before the match marred the night. Shortly before the game, the away end was bombarded with fireworks and even Molotov cocktails. Riot police then set upon the Ajax fans.

UEFA have charged AEK Athens with seven violations while Ajax have to answer for two. Setting off fireworks and throwing objects. The Disciplinary Commission of UEFA will consider the case on the 13th of December.

Ajax have already been in trouble with UEFA this season after crowd trouble in the clash with Benfica led to a conditional penalty for one away game without fans
