After the heavy defeat to Manchester United in the first group game, PSV continued their campaign with a point in Russia. PSV had the better chances of the game with both Sam Lammers and Albert Gudmundsson going close to breaking the deadlock, but in the end the game remained goalless.

PSV line up: Van de Meulenhof, Abels, Rommens, Carolina, Taanriver, Paal, Berden (83. Groeneveld), Lundqvist, Lammers (77. Van der Moot), Gudmundsson (70. Konings), Hattu.

In the group’s other game Manchester United were held to a 1-1 draw by Wolfsburg. It means both CSKA Moscow and Manchester United sit on four points, while both PSV and Wolfsburg currently have one point.

Schalke u19 2-3 Ajax u19

Ajax started their campaign with a well earned 3-2 win at Schalke in the first leg of their first round tie. The Dutch side started the game brightly and after seven minutes Abdelhak Nouri opened the scoring for close range after good work by Vaclav Cerny. It was 2-0 just after the half hour mark as Matthijs de Ligt headed into the net, but Fabian Reese pulled one back for Schalke in first half injury time.

Cerny restored Ajax’s two goal lead on 53 minutes, and although Paul Stieber pulled one back for Schalke the Amsterdam side held on for the win. The second leg in Amsterdam takes place on the 21st of October.
