Dirk Kuyt made his 300th Eredivisie appearance on Sunday and it was his Feyenoord side that took the initiative early on in Rotterdam with Nicolai Jorgensen capitalising on some poor defending by Roel Brouwers to open the scoring on 25 minutes.
Ten minutes before the break it was 2-0 as Karim El Ahmadi fired an unstoppable strike into the net from the edge of the box for his third goal of the season. A new personal best for the Moroccan.
Feyenoord began the second half slowly which allowed Roda JC to create chances but Brad Jones remained largely untroubled and the hosts wrapped up victory with three late goals. Firstly Jens Toornstra set up Jorgensen to tap in his second before the midfielder netted one of his own with a calm finish at the back post. In injury time Terence Kongolo was allowed space in the box to head in a fifth and seal a comfortable afternoon for the league leaders.
Feyenoord now travel to Turkey for a Europa League tie with Fenerbahce, while Roda JC drop to second bottom.
So beautiful to see us scoring goals and not conceding many.. there are still some defensive worries but we can’t become Barcelona overnight, hopefully we stay confident and keep building.. Ajax will be the real test. HEY-HO FEYENOORD!
