Utrecht stretched their unbeaten run to eight games with a routine win over Heracles.

utrechtherErik ten Hag’s side came into the game full of confidence and they took charge from the kick-off with Richairo Zivkovic twice denied by Bram Castro in the opening stages.

Eventually, the deadlock was broken on 32 minutes in fortunate circumstances with Mike te Wierik scoring an own goal from a corner.

In the second half, the woodwork denied Sebastien Haller while at the other end Robin Gosens strike was tipped onto the post by David Jensen.

Five minutes from the end, Utrecht were awarded a penalty for a foul on Haller, and the Frenchman netted from the spot to make it 2-0. Just before the end Heracles were reduced to ten men with Tim Breukers seeing red.

The victory moves Utrecht to 6th while Heracles are 10th.
