Utrecht have moved clear of Vitesse in fourth after a comfortable 3-0 win over FC Twente.

Eric ten Hag’s side started brightly but Twente goalkeeper Nick Marsman was in good form to deny Zakaria Labyad and then Gyrano Kerk in the opening ten minutes.

Utrecht defender Ramon Leeuwin was lucky to escape a red card for a two footed lunge and Enes Unal then missed a great chance to put Twente ahead with his strike saved by David Jensen. On the stroke of half time, Marsman pulled off a stunning stop to keep out Yassin Ayoub’s free kick which was heading for the top corner.

Utrecht eventually took the lead just after the hour mark with Kerk heading in a wonderful cross by Nacer Barazite, who made it 2-0 shortly afterwards with a close range finish. Richairo Zivkovic then came off the bench to cap the win for Utrecht with a low strike into the bottom corner.

The win moves Utrecht five points ahead of Vitesse in fourth while Twente stay 7th.
