Utrecht trailed 1-0 at the break but rallied in the second half to defeat PEC Zwolle 3-1.

Utrecht began their league campaign with a 4-2 win at ADO Den Haag last week and looked to make it two out of two against PEC Zwolle, who lost 3-1 at home to Willem II in their opener.

In the 16th minute, PEC Zwolle took the lead through a Gustavo Hamer free-kick.

After the shock opener, Utrecht looked for an equaliser and laid siege to the PEC Zwolle goal. Gyrano Kerk was the main danger for the hosts but he hit the post, while also having two efforts denied by Xander Mous. Somehow, PEC Zwolle managed to maintain their lead going into the break.

Two minutes into the second half, Utrecht finally scored as Kerk set up Sander van de Streek to net. Moments later, Utrecht were awarded a spot-kick when Mous brought down Issah Abass and Simon Gustafson made it 2-1.

In the 73rd minute, Utrecht sealed their victory through Willem Janssen, who was in the right place to net from a corner.

The victory moves Utrecht on to six points and they sit joint top with AZ Alkmaar. PEC Zwolle remain pointless.
