Utrecht have confirmed that young goalkeeper Mikki van Sas has left the club for Manchester City.

The 16-year-old still had a contract in Utrecht until 2022 so the club have received a fee for the young goalkeeper.

Utrecht technical director Jordy Zuidam told the club’s website, “We wave goodbye to Mikki with mixed feelings. On the one hand, we regret that in the person of Mikki an incredibly talented goalkeeper leaves our Academy. We would of course have liked to see Mikki shine in Stadium Galgenwaard, which is what we train for.

“On the other hand, Mikki said that he really wanted to make this move and we see his transfer to Manchester City as a compliment to our youth academy. This transition is confirmation of the increased level of the Academy. We have with Manchester City agreement has been reached on the transfer conditions and with that all parties are satisfied. We wish Mikki every success in England.”

Van Sas has chosen Manchester City over Barcelona, Ajax and Manchester United.
