Erik ten Hag has possibly ended his time in charge of Utrecht with a 3-1 defeat at NAC Breda,

Ajax are set to approach Ten Hag during the winter break to take over from the sacked Marcel Keizer, but the Utrecht boss insisted he was fully focused on ending the year with a win against NAC Breda,

However, it was the home side who dominated from the start and after several missed chances it was Pablo Mari who opened the scoring on 26 minutes with a header.

Zakaria Labyad, playing possibly his final match in a Utrecht shirt, went close to equalising on two occasions but in the 72nd minute Thierry Ambrose doubled NAC’s lead with a close range finish at the back post from Giovanni Korte’s cross.

Three minutes later, former NAC striker Cyriel Dessers pulled one back for Utrecht, but the visitors couldn’t find an equaliser. Deep into injury time, Rico Streider was shown his second yellow card and from the resulting free-kick Angeliño fired in NAC’s third to seal the victory.

NAC now move up to 15th while Utrecht are 6th.
