The 23-year-old centre-back has signed a contract for two seasons with the option of a third.
Benamar spent time in the youth academies of Ajax, AFC, FC Volendam, Zeeburgia, ADO Den Haag and FC Twente before moving to Morocco. He returned to the Netherlands with Telstar and made 41 appearances for the club.
Utrecht Technical Director Jordy Zuidam told the club’s website, “Benaissa is a big, strong but also fast central defender. He has a lot of playing ability, insight and good kicking technique. He has personality and charisma. It is a player with a lot of flexibility. Compliments to the scouting, led by Alje Schut, who mapped the player well. As a result, we were there in time to convince him to choose us. We are happy that Benaissa is making the switch! ”
