Utrecht beat Heracles 3-1 on Sunday to leapfrog the Almelo side into fourth spot.

In a clash between the best of the rest it was Utrecht who took the upper-hand early on and were awarded a penalty after only three minutes.
Maximilian Rosmann fouled Timo Letschert and Simon Gustafson dispatched the penalty.

In the 19th minute Gyrano Kerk found the net with a fierce strike that flew in off the post to make it 2-0. A minute later, Urby Emanuelson brilliantly volleyed a Oussama Tannane cross past Janis Blaswich to put the hosts 3-0 up.

Heracles tried to fight their way back into the match and in the 75th minute they pulled one back as Rosmann netted from close range. However, Utrecht remained comfortable and came close to a fourth when Gustafson’s strike crashed off the bar.

The win lifts Utrecht above Heracles into fourth spot.
