PSV Eindhoven boss Mark van Bommel was satisfied with his players after their 3-0 victory over Ajax on Sunday.

PSV brushed Ajax away in the first half, scoring all three goals before the break and then seeing the game out in the second.

After the game, Van Bommel told Fox Sports, “We played to our strengths. We did everything we could to achieve victory in character and enthusiasm in the second half. The game against Barcelona and the trip had cost us a lot of strength, but we also wanted to play football against Ajax.”

Van Bommel was full of praise for Luuk de Jong, who was instrumental in the win, “Ajax put us under high pressure, then it is nice to have the opportunity to play the long ball at Luuk. If you are under pressure, you can always reach him. He is so important to us, he can divide the game with his head and then we can play football from the midfield. Now everyone has seen how important he is, which I said six weeks ago.”

Van Bommel added, “In fact, everyone reached a very high level today. Three nice goals, I can be satisfied. It is nice to see that everyone knows what they have to do. Ajax is just a very good team, they showed that in Europe, but we had the game well under control. ‘
