Mark van Bommel is proud that five of his PSV Eindhoven players were selected in the latest Netherlands squad.

Ronald Koeman watched PSV’s 2-1 defeat to Inter Milan earlier this week and was clearly impressed by several of the players on show.

For the upcoming ties with Germany and Belgium, PSV are the main supplier to the Oranje squad with five players from Eindhoven in the squad. As expected, Jeroen Zoet and Luuk de Jong are in, but there are also first call-ups for Denzel Dumfries, Pablo Rosario and Steven Bergwijn.

PSV head coach Mark van Bommel told his press conference, “I am very proud of that.

“So many players selected and some for the first time. It indicates that they have done very well in recent months. It is a stimulus for them to continue and to maintain this level. I almost felt like a player again, I was so happy for them. For Denzel it was of course completely beautiful, because he was not in the preselection.”

Van Bommel also praised Steven Bergwijn for his recent form, “Stevie makes big steps. It is really impressive what he has shown in recent months. So good, so stable and so threatening. Frankly, I had expected it too. I know him from the youth and then you already saw the potential. I am a big fan of Steven. He is top and perhaps European top, already. “
