Ex-Netherlands international midfielder Mark van Bommel has joined the Netherlands U-17’s coaching staff.

Van Bommel brought his playing career to an end last season after representing the likes of Barcelona, PSV, Bayern Munich, and AC Milan, while earning 79 Netherlands caps.
Since retiring Van Bommel has been working on his coaching badges, and currently holds an UEFA B coaching diploma.
Todat the KNVB have announced that the 36-year-old has joined the coaching staff of the Netherlands u-17’s, becoming an assistant to head coach Maarten Stekelenburg.
Technical director of the KNVB Jelle Goes said after the appointment, “It’s fantastic that we can add Mark to the technical staff of the Under-17s.
“Mark has played both nationally and internationally at the highest level. The KNVB can utilise his experience in the development of this age group.”
“In addition, Mark is at the beginning of his career as a coach and this is a good opportunity for him as a novice to gain experience.”
