PSV Eindhoven boss Mark van Bommel has responded to rumours linking Steven Bergwijn with a move to Ajax.

De Telegraaf reported Ajax’s interest in the 22-year-old on Tuesday morning with the players agent also confirming contact with the Amsterdam club.

However, the message out of Eindhoven has so far been that there is no chance they will allow Bergwijn to join their rival.

Speaking at his press conference, PSV boss Mark van Bommel said on the rumours, “They are rumours of course, but we do not sell Steven to Ajax.

“There has been no offer from Amsterdam and if they do want to, we will wait for that. But a sale really requires two parties.”

Van Bommel confirmed he spoke with Bergwijn about the interest, “Of course, I spoke to Stevie this morning, I speak to my players every day. We laughed a bit about what was in the paper. Again, they are rumours. “

Despite plenty of rumours around his players, van Bommel is hoping to convince most of his selection to stay, “You never know what happens. But we like to keep everyone on board. That’s why I’m talking to players again just like I did for this season. I want them to stay, because I want the best team possible. And the players are happy with how we work here and how we play football. We can be very direct to each other and tell each other the truth. Then decisions are accepted. ”
