The weekend brought reports that the KNVB were targeting former Leverkusen boss Roger Schmidt and were considering a partnership between Ruud Gullit and Henk ten Cate. Schmidt reportedly has no interest according to BILD, while Gullit and ten Cate have claimed no contact between them and the KNVB.

Quoted by VI, Hans van Breukelen, who reportedly wants a new coach in place by the start of May, wouldn’t speak about potential candidates, “I’ve heard since the departure of Danny Blind as many names and combinations, I just do not input. Everything I say is too much. We are busy, that’s it.

“What is leading the search, is quality. It’s not all that complicated, I need to make sure we get the best.”

Netherlands face Morocco on May 31 in Agadir, Ivory Coast four days later and then Luxembourg in a must win World Cup qualifier on the 9th of June.
