Feyenoord go into this weekend’s clash with Ajax six points clear of the Amsterdam side at the top of the Eredivisie. A win over their rivals would all but seal their first title since 1999.

Speaking at his press conference, Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealed that it has always been a dream of his to lift the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord.

He said, “It’s a dream of mine to become champion with Feyenoord.

“As a player I never managed to do with this club to win the competition. That drive to achieve it is now in me. In the entire group. Everyone in the club wants to win the title. It gives us energy and we work hard to achieve it every day. Sunday’s game is the most important. ”

Van Bronckhorst was asked about the Netherlands position, but was adamant that he will remain at Feyenoord,  “If they call, I say no.

“I want to be champion with Feyenoord. The overall picture was not good at Orange. What next? Just ask the KNVB.”
