Feyenoord manager Giovanni Van Bronckhorst spoke to the NOS after his team’s 4-1 home defeat to Ajax in de Klassieker in Rotterdam.

The heavy defeat means Feyenoord have now failed to win in their last four home games. They now sit eight points adrift of leaders PSV Eindhoven in the table.

Van Bronckhorst said, ”This result is tough to take especially if you lose to Ajax in such circumstances. We also dropped important points today.

”We did not start the game well today. We did not show flare in ball possession and we appeared very restless as a team.

”We were not good enough today. We showed drive in the game far too late. We should have done that in the first half.

”We have to go back to basics and start to play as a team again. Something that we did not do today.”
