The coach complimented Feyenoord’s energy levels and spoke about how midfielder Jens Toornsta is becoming increasingly influential for them.
He said, ”We showed that we wanted to win today in the last 3 games we have picked up 7 points and the way that we played today will certainly give us confidence. We did not let Sparta Rotterdam in the game at any time and that is the type of performance that we want to show every week.
”I can only compliment the drive that my team showed today. We were very energetic. It helped that we had a free week midweek in a physical sense. If you play 3 games a week you are living game to game and therefore you do not have a lot of time to prepare for games in terms of training or analysis.
”You also know as a squad that if you play in Europe that you are going to play a lot of games and in that case it helps with the development of the team.
”Jens Toornstra’s goal was fantastic and he combined so well with Rick Karsdorp to produce such a lethal volley. I can only compliment Jens Toornstra on how he has improved lately. He is a player who knows where he is needed within the team and he can help and support teammates too . In an attacking such he can also assist, shoot and score goals. He has become a more complete player.
”Looking ahead to Thursday against Fenerbahce it is a final for both team’s with only one more game to go. We know what we have to do . If Manchester United win against Zorya Luhansk then we must win by 2 clear goals. We will do everything we can to beat Fenerbahce at home by that margin.”
