Giovanni van Bronckhorst has put pen to paper on a new one year deal as assistant coach at Feyenoord.

bronckhorstThe 39-year-olds contract was due to expire this summer, and with coach Ronald Koeman leaving at the end of the season, doubts over Van Bronckhorst’s future at the club were beginning to appear.

However Feyenoord have announced that Van Bronckhorst has extended his current deal by another year, and that he will continue to be assistant manager under new boss Fred Rutten.

Speaking to the official Feyenoord website, Van Bronckhorst stated it was an easy decision to decide to stay on at De Kuip.

Van Bronckhorst added, “Feyenoord is my club and I’m enjoying myself here. It  is fantastic.”

“It was just important for me to speak with new coach Fred Rutten about the deal. That felt really good and I’m glad I am part of the technical staff next season.”
