ESPN reported earlier on Wednesday that Manchester United had identified the Dutch international as a January recruit as they look to strengthen their squad.
However, Voetbal International is reporting that a January move is completely out of the question for Ajax. Manchester United will have to wait until the summer to bid for the 22-year-old, who is also a target for Real Madrid.
Ajax want around €50 million for their midfielder while they have already identified Cruz Azul’s Roberto Alvarado as a potential replacement.
