Van de Beek is yet to start a Premier League clash, but he was chosen for the Champions League game against Istanbul Basaksehir.
Manchester United had won their two opening group games, but they fell behind in the 13th minute to a Demba Ba goal. Edin Visca then doubled the lead on an assist from former Go Ahead Eagles midfielder Deniz Turuc.
Just before the break, Antony Martial pulled one back and the English giants went looking for an equaliser in the second half. However, it never came, while Van de Beek was substituted in the 61st minute.
Van de Beek gave a decent performance in the midfield but was hooked by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He has only completed 90 minutes for his new side once, and that was in the League Cup.
