Donny van de Beek scored on his Manchester United debut but his new club fell to a shock 3-1 loss at home to Crystal Palace.

Van de Beek was on the bench from the start as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferred a midfield trio of Paul Pogba, Bruno Fernandes, and Scott McTominay. Timothy Fosu-Mensah did start though.

By the time Van de Beek came on in the 67th minute, United were 1-0 down with Andros Townsend netting in the 7th minute. Shortly after Van de Beek’s entrance, Crystal Palace doubled their lead through a Wilfried Zaha penalty.

In the 80th minute, Van de Beek reacted quickly to pull one back for Manchester United from close range. However, the Dutchman’s first goal for the club did not lead to a comeback as Zaha sealed Crystal Palace’s victory.

A debut goal for Van de Beek but a match to forget for Manchester United.
