Rene van der Gijp does not understand why the KNVB have appointed Frank de Boer as the new Netherlands national team coach.

De Boer was confirmed as the new Oranje boss on Wednesday, despite being sacked in his last three positions at Internazionale, Crystal Palace and Atlanta United.
Speaking to Veronica Inside, former Netherlands international Rene van der Gijp is baffled, “Surely there is no country in the world where you can become a national coach after you have been fired three times in a row? People stopped laughing because of the training, the discussions, everything. To top it all off, you become national coach. Wouldn’t this be unthinkable in Germany and France? “
Wim Kieft has also criticized the KNVB and directors Eric Gudde and Nico-Jan Hoogma, “It is the safest choice of the KNVB. There is a totally incapable board there. If Koeman is approached three times by FC Barcelona, you know he can leave once. Then you must have already checked everything, who is available?”
Somehow it’s true what he said. All is done and we only now hope and pray for the best.
