milannews.it reports that Van der Wiel, who shares the same agent as Abate, could be joining the Milan club on loan initially with a view to a permanent deal in order to allow PSG’s move for the Italian to be completed.

Van der Wiel played 22 games for PSG last season under Carlo Ancelotti, and even though he has made 9 appearances in 13 league games under coach Laurent Blanc, the Dutchman doesn’t appear to be in the long term plans.

With a World Cup looming the the right-back will be hoping to play regular football to ensure he flies to Brazil with the Dutch squad. Van der Wiel gained a recall to the national team for the recent friendlies with Japan and Colombia, but finds Feyenoord right back Daryl Janmaat ahead of him in coach Louis van Gaal’s plans.
