Virgil van Dijk has admitted he has not reached his usual level this season but believes Liverpool will return to form.

It has been a poor campaign for Liverpool so far and they currently sit 11th in the Premier League after eight games.

Speaking to Viaplay, Van Dijk said he believes Liverpool are close to turning a corner, “It feels like this to me: we are not far from it, to reach that level again.”

The Netherlands captain admits he has not been at his best, “What I am most disappointed with is that I did not achieve the constant level. Of course I have set a very high bar for myself. If something small goes wrong, it is unfortunately measured very large.

“I always want to win and always play the best game ever. And if it doesn’t go well, people from outside try to find reasons for that. That is sometimes difficult to hear all of them. We have to deal with it, but that is not what we want to hear.”
