Van Dijk swapped Groningen for Celtic in the summer, with people in Netherlands believing that a move to one of the big clubs in the Eredivisie such as Ajax or PSV would have been a better choice.
Since his move to Celtic, Van Dijk has earned rave reviews, with national team coach said to be considering a call up for the 22 year old.
The defender now thinks that Tuesday’s win over Ajax will convince his doubters wrong, and that Celtic showed just how big a club they were.
He said in the Scotsman, “In the beginning, people back home thought I had made a bad decision coming here because no one there follows the Scottish League,”
“But I knew what I was doing. I thought about it a lot and I knew that Celtic was an unbelievably big club. You could see that again on Tuesday night.
