Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk is hoping that the 3-0 win over Germany is just a start for Oranje.

The Liverpool defender headed Netherlands in front before Memphis Depay and Georginio Wijnaldum sealed Oranje’s first UEFA Nations League victory.

After the game, Van Dijk told NOS, “This feels very good.

‘It was a good game, we worked hard. We win at home with 3-0, we keep the zero, that is very nice. It was important that we made the 2-0, then it was game over. This week we have worked hard, it is great that it will come out now.”

Van Dijk is hoping the win can propel Netherlands to better things, “Let’s hope that we have now broken a barrier. We have to continue this. It is nice that we have won now, but we are not there yet. I thought it was a good match. If you had said in advance that we would win Germany 3-0, no one would have believed you.”
