With the game poised at 1-1 in Munich, van Dijk rose to head in a corner to send Liverpool on their way to a 3-1 victory and the last eight of the Champions League.
After the game, he told Ziggo Sport, “I think you can talk about my most important goal ever, although I don’t want to forget the one for the Oranje here in Germany in the Nations League. But no, I have never scored for Liverpool at such an important moment.”
He also spoke to BT Sport, “This is a great evening. We knew it would be tough, because Bayern has a great team with fantastic players. We also had some bad luck with the equalizer, but we have done the job and are now among the last eight.”
