The Dutch international is being courted by every top club in England including Chelsea and Manchester City, with the latter believed to be favourites in the race to sign the 24-year-old.

However, according to The Guardian, Van Dijk has indicated to Liverpool that they are his first choice as he wants to work with their head coach Jurgen Klopp. The article also states that the initial fee for a move to Liverpool would be £50 million but add-ons would take it to £60 million. This would be an offer that Manchester City would be unwilling to match.

Van Dijk also stands to make around £200,000 a week with the move to Anfield and would officially be the most expensive Dutch footballer in history.
