Van Gaal, who is leaving his position as Netherlands boss after the World Cup, has been linked with Tottenham ever since they sacked Andre Villas-Boas last year. However his commitment to Netherlands saw him turn down the job, and Tottenham appointed Tim Sherwood as their new coach.

However Van Gaal has reiterated his desire to coach in the Premier League next season, with Tottenham seemingly his preference.

Speaking after Netherlands learnder their Euro 2016 qualifying draw, Van Gaal said, “I will definitely not be in charge for the Euro 2016 qualification campaign. I don’t know where I will go next,”

“I have said before that a challenge should be a club in the Premier League. Maybe Tottenham are coming, but first we have to go to Brazil. I will definitely not be in charge for the European campaign.”

Dutch broadcaster RTV Rijnmond reported on Sunday that Van Gaal has emerged as Feyenoord’s number one choice to replace the outgoing Ronald Koeman, and the Eredivisie side have already held talks with the former Barcelona, and Ajax boss.

However it remains to be seen whether financial constraints would scupper any chance of Van Gaal taking the Feyenoord job, as he seeks assurances over transfer funds.
