Louis van Gaal has confirmed his Netherlands squad for the upcoming World Cup.

The national team coach phoned the unlucky 13 players dropped from his provisional squad in the morning before confirming the 26 names going to Qatar.

PSV Eindhoven youngster Xavi Simons and Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong receive their first Netherlands call-ups for the tournament, while Andries Noppert of Heerenveen is also uncapped.

The unlucky thirteen to miss out are Jasper Cillessen (NEC), Mark Flekken (Freiburg), Devyne Rensch (Ajax), Sven Botman (Newcastle United), Mitchel Bakker (Bayer Leverkusen), Pascal Struijk (Leeds United), Micky van de Ven (Wolfsburg), Jordy Clasie (AZ Alkmaar), Guus Til (PSV) Ryan Gravenberch (Bayern Munich), Arnaut Danjuma (Villarreal), Donyell Malen (Borussia Dortmund) and Brian Brobbey (Ajax)
