VAN GAAL 2According to the Mirror the Dutch boss confessed that Tottenham Hotspur were in contact with him after André Villas-Boas was sacked by the north London club in December last year. The Dutchman has admitted that by the start of next seasons campaign he wants to be managing a team from the Premier League.

Earlier this year, the 62-year old stated in a interview that only the most tempting of offers could convince him not to retire this year. Saying to AD Sportwereld. “Basically, I will retire, unless a very great challenge comes along.” But now it seems the former Barça, Ajax and Bayern Munich coach has decided that the location as to where this ‘great challenge’ will come from is in England. And although Spurs seem the most likely team he shall pursuit this challenge with, he has kept the doors open to work with any other side in the self-proclaimed ‘greatest league in the world’.

Van Gaal was quoted by the Mirror for saying, “I am mostly interested in England because I have been a coach in Spain, Germany, in the Netherlands, so I think England is the next step in my career.”

“Spurs? It could be another club – it depends on the vacancies.

“I prefer to be focused on this World Cup and now there’s another coach (at Spurs), so as a coach you cannot say, I go to that club or that club, it depends on circumstances and the vacancies.”
