VAN GAAL 2Goals from Arjen Robben, and Wesley Sneijder gave the Dutch side a comfortable 2-0 win, and ended a good qualification campaign with nine wins in ten games.

Afterwards Louis van Gaal spoke to the media, and was happy with his side’s dominant display in a difficult atmosphere like Turkey.

He told SBS6, “I am proud of my team. There are not many teams that come here and find it easy. I just wish that we had scored more, especially after the break.”

“Despite the referee we stayed on our feet. I had to make changes because of yellow cards for offences that were not.

“I thought the referee had a bad performance. He gave a lot to Turkey but not much to us.”

Overall, Van Gaal feels his side have made progress during the World Cup qualification, and feels they are on the right track as the countdown to Brazil next summer starts.

He added, We are clearly on the right track, we have made progress in possession and that is reflected in the result.”
