Louis van Gaal praised his Netherlands squad after they defeated Norway 2-0 to seal a place at next year’s World Cup.

Van Gaal watched from the skybox as his side netted twice in the last ten minutes to seal a 2-0 victory over Norway which confirmed their spot at the World Cup.

After the game, Van Gaal spoke with NOS and he was asked if he was nervous watching the game, “No. Because I think we had the game under control. You have seen the difference with Montenegro. We now played very compact and that for ninety minutes. I think Norway might have had half a chance.”

Overall, Van Gaal is pleased with how the week has gone, “We got to know each other at a low point, but also at a high point. I think the players have executed the plan brilliantly today. Scored two goals, kept a clean sheet… This is fantastic.”
