The 63-year-old will step down as Netherlands boss after this summers World Cup, and has been heavily linked with a move to the English Premier League.
Van Gaal reportedly turned down Tottenham when they sacked Andre Villas Boas last year, but he has stated he would be willing to make the move in the summer as he looks to add a Premier League title to his trophy cabinet.
The former Bayern Munich, and Ajax boss told Bild, “My ambition is to coach a top team in the Premier League. I have never experienced the atmosphere in England.”
“I want to win the league title in a fourth country. That’s my objective and I want to fulfil it. Either that, or I will retire and move with my wife to Portugal.
“Of course, I like the Bundesliga a lot, but I have already won the German title. I now want to win a major trophy in another country.”
Along with Tottenham, Manchester United have also been linked with the Dutchman.
