After signing for Chelsea last season from Vitesse, Van Ginkel missed most of the campaign after suffering an anterior Cruciate ligament injury. The 21-year-old made a good impression during pre-season but was sent out on loan to AC Milan in order to gain first team football.
The former Vitesse star sat on the bench for the last two AC Milan matches, but was handed his debut against Empoli on Tuesday evening. However disaster has struck again with Van Ginkel stretchered off after only 30 minutes with what appears to be an ankle injury.
Van Ginkel will now face a wait to find out how severe the injury is, and all fans of the Italian club and Netherlands will be hoping it is not too serious.
Awful to hear this. I don’t think he is physically capable at playing at the highest level yet. He either does not have the build or is trying to do too much. Either way sorry to hear about this. i hope he can recover and if he does Chelsea should make him go back to Holland and play full time for two years if he can and then bring him back. I hope this is possible and his career is not over.
