The 24-year-old Dutch international spent six months in Eindhoven on loan at the end of last season, but an injury suffered in the summer scuppered any chance of a return.
Van Ginkel is now fully fit once again, and with no place for him in the Chelsea first team squad, a loan move away in January is inevitable. Speaking to Omroep Brabant, Marcel Brands confirmed they have yet to contact Chelsea, but van Ginkel is still a target.
He said, “We need to check with Chelsea.
“Of course he’s on our list, but we must also see if there is a spot for him at this time in our team.
“That question will be answered by our technical staff.
“We need to look even if he is feasible. We have not enquired with Chelsea yet.”
