Van Bommel was confirmed as the successor to Phillip Cocu last week and its expected that van Marwijk will follow his son-in-law to Eindhoven as an assistant.

However, the current Australia national team boss, spoke to NOS after the nation were eliminated from the World Cup and stated he is yet to speak with PSV.

He said, “We’re still here at the World Cup, I’m not going to say anything about that, I have not spoken to PSV at all.”

On Australia’s exit after a 2-0 loss to Peru, Van Marwijk said, “We have done everything, today again, we have played well and created opportunities, but we have difficulty scoring.

“We have played very stable three times and I thought that we were a lot better than the opponents today, but we can not express the difference in goals, and we certainly miss the quality on this level.”
