Australia took the lead in their match in Norway but fell to a heavy defeat to condemn Van Marwijk to a debut loss.
Van Marwijk said, ”I am proud to be Australian national team manager and I am looking forward to the World Cup 2018 in Russia.
”I am happy to be here and it is a great challenge to work with these players and do our best in Russia. Our mission is to survive the group phase.
”What we must do is develop our own style of play if we do that we can go very far.
”I believe the 4-1 defeat to Norway in Oslo is good for our process but I do not like to lose 4-1. We have just met one another just once as backroom staff and players and we have had only one chance to train properly so far so you cannot expect too much.
”4-1 is a big defeat and we have defensive problems and that is clear. We must learn to be organized and I am pleased that we will have the time to improve.
”From 19th May we will have a month in order to train every day and only then we can judge this team differently and we must ensure that we are stable as a team.”
So glad this arrogant bunch of mediocre prima donnas lost heavily. Long may their defeats continue.
