Ruud van Nistelrooy has denied that he told Fabio Capello that the dressing room at Real Madrid smelled of alcohol.

During an interview with Sky Italia, Capello revealed that Ronaldo liked to party during his last few months with Real Madrid, and sometimes even held them in the club’s dressing room. He added that Van Nistelrooy had approached him to say the dressing room smelled of alcohol.

These claims have been strongly denied by Van Nistelrooy on Twitter, “In light of some statements attributed to Fabio Capello, which state that I told him in his time at the club that the Real Madrid locker room smelled of alcohol, I would like to strongly deny such statements.”

The former striker said the team was “extremely professional,” and added, “From the first to the last teammate, we worked together to defend the club colours in a professional way.”

Van Nistelrooy signed for Real Madrid in 2006 when they were coached by Capello with Ronaldo departing a year later.
