According to NOS, Ruud van Nistelrooy will join Frank de Boer’s Netherlands coaching staff as an assistant.

De Boer stated his hope that Van Nistelrooy would join his staff last month, and that now appears to be close. After the World Cup qualifying draw, De Boer hinted to NOS that van Nistelrooy had agreed to become his assistant.

Van Nistelrooy had previously turned down the opportunity because of his job as coach of the PSV U18’s. However, he is now heading for his second spell with the national team, having previously been an assistant between 2014 and 2016.

De Boer hopes to have Van Nistelroooy in his role by the time the March internationals take place. He will be Netherlands second assistant along with Dwight Lodeweges.
