Robin van Persie believes a BeNeleague would be of benefit to the big Dutch clubs.

The KNVB and Belgian FA’s have been in talks for a while over the possibility of combining their leagues, with several of the clubs also in favour of it.

Robin van Persie also believes it would be a good idea as the top Dutch clubs will get more resistance. He is quoted on L’Equipe’s website saying, “You want to play as many matches as possible with as much resistance as possible.

“That only makes you better. In the Netherlands you certainly play as a larger club also home games with not too much resistance. There are a number of them. But if you can replace a number of games for duels with Anderlecht, Genk and Ghent … Why not?

“I think it would only be good. For both the Dutch and the Belgian league. And it is also nice and close. It is not that you have to travel very far.”
