Robin van Persie made his first appearance for Fenerbahce in their 0-0 draw with Ukrainian side Shakhtar Donetsk on Tuesday.

The Netherlands captain completed his move to Turkey earlier this month after falling out of favour with Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal.
Van Persie started on the bench for Fenerbahce’s Champions League third qualifying round first leg tie against Shakhtar in Istanbul, but came off the bench to a hero’s welcome with 22 minutes left of the game.
However the striker’s introduction was not enough to spark Fenerbahce to victory, and they will take no advantage to the second leg in Ukraine next week.
