Manchester United and Dutch national team captain Robin van Persie has rubbished rumours that he requires surgery on his knee.

van p captReports in England stated the United striker needed surgery in order to fix a problem with his knee, which would rule him out of action for a period of time.

However speaking to Fox Sports NL Van Persie described the reports as “Nonsense”, while having a go at the people who made up the story.

Van Persie said, I am impressed that people have the imagination to invent something like that”

“I do not know where it comes from and can say with my hand on my heart that I’m not in a hospital to have an operation.”

“I had three weeks vacation and then had three good weeks of training. Last weekend I played an hour. Still without the desired result, but I’m assuming it will be okay.”

Manchester United signed Colombian international Falcao on loan from Monaco on Monday night, and Van Persie has welcomed the signing of the striker.

Van Persie added, “I welcome his arrival, he makes us better. At a top club you should always go for the best, which also fits my philosophy.”

Van Persie is currently with the Dutch national team as they prepare for a friendly match with Italy on Friday before starting their European Championship qualification campaign with a trip to the Czech Republic.
