The English newspaper is reporting that Van Persie’s agent, Kees Vos, has been in Istanbul for the past two days to negotiate a deal with Fenerbahce. The 31-year-old has reportedly agreed terms with the Turkish club, and is ready to sign a four-year-deal as soon as Fenerbahce and Manchester United agree a fee.
Van Persie’s wife was said to be against a move to Turkey, but her views have now changed after spending a week in Istanbul, while Dirk Kuyt, who spent three seasons with Fenerbahce, has also convinced his former Netherlands teammate that a move to the Super Lig would be the right move.
The Netherlands captain’s stock has fallen dramatically over the past year, with Van Persie falling out of favour with coach Louis van Gaal after only netting ten times during last season. With his contract expiring in a year, Manchester United are hoping to offload the former Feyenoord and Arsenal star this summer instead of losing him on a free next year.
