Robin van Persie will play the final game of his career when Feyenoord host ADO Den Haag on Sunday.

The 35-year-old announced earlier this year that he would be retiring at the end of the Eredivisie campaign, which was meant to be this Sunday. However, the KNVB moved the final fixtures to this Wednesday.

Feyenoord will travel to face Fortuna Sittard but their coach Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed that Robin van Persie will say farewell to his career on Sunday when ADO Den Haag visit De Kuip. He said at his press conference, “He can enjoy the moment on Sunday, a wonderful end to his career.”

Van Persie, who began his career with Feyenoord before spells with Arsenal, Manchester United and Fenerbahce, returned to Rotterdam in 2018. This season he has scored 18 times in 30 appearances.
