Sari van Veenendaal won The Best FIFA Women’s Goalkeeper Award on Monday evening during the FIFA gala in Milan.

The Netherlands international and Atletico Madrid stopper picked up the award, which was being given out for the first ever time on Monday.

Van Veenendaal beat off competition from Christiane Endler and Hedvig Lindahl to take the award.

For Van Veendendaal it is the second award this year after she was named the best goalkeeper during the summer’s World Cup, which saw Netherlands finish third.
