The 22-year-old Ajax centre back came off the bench during the 2-0 loss to Italy after Bruno Martins Indi was shown a red card, and it seems Veltman will now replace the Porto defender in the starting eleven.
In Guus Hiddink’s latest training session the coach split his players into two groups, with Veltman replacing Martins Indi among the ‘A’ group that contained nine of the players who started against Italy.
Judging by that the starting line-up v the Czech Republic could be: Cillessen, Janmaat, Blind, De Vrij, Veltman, De Jong, Wijnaldum, Sneijder, Kuyt, Lens, Van Persie.
Veltman has four senior caps so far in his career after making his debut in 2013 against Colombia.
Netherlands face the Czech Republic on Tuesday in Prague.
Can’t play 4-3-3 with Kuyt. I predict a draw or loss for Holland. But I could be wrong. I see no attack. Lens hardly played and Depay is on great form unless he is hurt Hiddink I can’t see why he picks Kuyt over Depay.
