The midfielder, who nearly left on a free transfer last summer, had a contract until 2018 with the Rotterdammers but that has now been extended by a further two years.

Speaking to the official Feyenoord website, technical director Martin van Geel said, ‘Tonny is a very important player in our selection, which has developed from our own youth to international. We’re happy that he stays longer associated with Feyenoord and expressed confidence in the future of the club. ”

Vilhena has played 28 times for Feyenoord this season and has played a big part in their title challenge. They will seal top spot this Sunday with a win at Excelsior.
