vitexc-jVitesse went into the game looking to end a run of five games without a victory, but they found themselves 2-0 behind before the clock struck 15 minutes. Hicham Faik opened the scoring with a strike from distance before the midfielder netted his second on 14 minutes with a placed shot past Eloy Room.

The hosts pushed forward looking for a late winner, but Excelsior held on to claim a point. The point sees Vitesse rise to 7th while Excelsior are 12th.
